4 stars because it is nearly perfect, except the seating could be better. Many many many theater in this area have upgraded to bigger, more comfort seats and this theater could benefit from upgrading.
Good show (we saw Spiderman) unfortunately the IMAX movie was awesome as always in the viewing but unfortunately as with nearly EVERY theater the movies volume was way, way too loud! This is coming from someone who is hearing disabled and who has children that had to cover their ears for many portions of the show. There are ways to enjoy the show and actually feel like you are one of the movie characters without making your ears bleed or causing damage to a person's ear drums...
Overall, I've had good experiences with this theater. However, I recently saw Blade Runner 2049 in their RPX auditorium (my first time with an RPX screening) , and while the picture and sound itself were very good, the screening was marred by the fact that the sound was causing and audible shaking/rattling in the structure of the building. If you've ever heard a car that sounds like it's being shaken to pieces by its subwoofers, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It was maddeningly distracting. Somebody needs to get in there with a big wrench or something and tighten everything down. With films as sonically immersive as BR2049, a problem this severe really pulls an audience out of the experience.
Food: Sadly, concessions is beyond slow. As much as I would love to support the theater's concessions, I often find myself skipping a snack if the line has more than 2 or 3 people in line. Also, why bother having hot food on the menu if they don't have the ovens ready to go in the morning? Lol.
Regarding the food it is / was very much standard. That is as usual way, way over priced and the quality was at the very best mediocre and really that is all you can ever say about the food choices at this and most theaters. I have to say at least I didn't get sick from the food so that is always a plus.
I've been coming here for just about 14 years. I love the IMAX experience and watching movies here, but there's always room for improvement.
Seating was OK. Not much to say about that unfortunately for the price of IMAX you would think they would have better seats like that of the other theaters at that are actually less expensive.
Upon entering the theater, one can smell the cleaning product and there has been NO wait/lane when I've been there. Movie sound is a bit loud.
Great theater one of the 3 true imax experiences (super large screen) you can have in the Bay area (sf metrion and Newark are the other 2) lost a star because the house lights came on in the middle of the movie randomly for 10 min. Lucky it was a bright section of Thor but still distracting. Also the seats are designed for shorter people. I'm 6' and the head cushion was in my shoulder blades
Bag checks and not being able to bring outside food and drinks is understadable, but in order to avoid people bringing their own stuff, the staff needs to be much more efficient.
The theater and restrooms are almost always clean on the days I go. I typically go during the morning so it might be different mid-day or at night.
